Twisted Oak on Lake Michigan

This 2 story house has room for everyone at 4905 sq. ft. with 4 bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths, great room, dining room, gourmet kitchen, dinette, office, library, sun room, horticultural, green room, large mud room, laundry and covered patio and a upper deck that features power screens that convert the deck into a screen room at the touch of a button.

I wanted to design a classic style home that would fit an existing lake lot and plus look like it could have been there as long as the other homes in the area. The plan was to have the living spaces on the second floor hence the name “Twisted Oak” . This design takes advantage of this for raised ceilings. This leaves the bedrooms and utilities on the first floor of the house with 9′-0″ ceilings with the second floor 10′-0″ ceilings plus I raised most of the ceilings to 11′-0″ and 12′-0″ heights.

Making it to the second floor will never be a problem with elevator to all floors including the basement that includes a large rec room and spa bath the includes large sauna. Upon reaching the second floor from both the elevator or the impressive stairs you will find this house is made for entertaining with the central great room to the lake open to the covered deck / screen room that also included a fireplace / pizza oven. The focal point is a large brick 2 way fireplace between the dining room and great room with raised 12′-0″ ceilings that takes center stage. With an open gourmet kitchen that is open to the great room & dinette trough a arched opening that faces the lake and takes advantage of the views through out the entire day. The south side of the second floor also includes a large office & library both with raised ceilings and feature built in cabinets & shelves and a huge sun room with vaulted ceiling.
